Joedan hospital was started in 1974 at No 6, Daniel Street, Moshalashi Lagos, by Sir Dr. Mark Ayodele Sanwo and Dr Folagbade Oshodi. The name Joedan was coined from Joseph (Joe) and Daniel (Dan) the fathers of Dr. Sanwo and Dr. Oshodi respectively. They were both residents at the time. In 1977, due of the pressure of the residency programme, Dr. Oshodi opted out and Dr. Sanwo continued alone to be joined later by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Sanwo.
